Lottie's 100 laps challenge page

100 laps challenge · 18 August 2020
This September I am taking part in the RNOH's 100 laps challenge - I'll be swimming 100 laps which roughly equates to a 5km swim. Better work on my stamina...
As many of you will know my daughter Sienna was born with Development Dysplasia of the hips ("DDH") a condition where the "ball and socket" joint of the hip does not form properly. From 7 days old Sienna was treated with a medical splint called a Pavlik Harness for 12 weeks which fixed her left hip but sadly her right hip proved more stubborn. In June Sienna underwent open reduction surgery to correct her right hip and was cared for by the incredible experts at the RNOH. I am so grateful for the excellent treatment Sienna received and would like to give back to the RNOH with your support!
Any donation (no matter how small) will be very gratefully received.
With many fundraising activities cancelled due to COVID-19 the RNOH needs our support more than ever.
Money raised will go towards (1) a new SPECT-CT scanner at the RNOH. This state-of-the-art piece of equipment takes two different types of scans and fuses them together to allow doctors to understand in greater detail the anatomy and behaviour of musculoskeletal abnormalities, diseases and infections. The scanner will not only give more accurate diagnoses but will also reduce waiting times for their patients and (2) a new hip spica table for families facing an extended period of time in a hip spica cast (like Sienna). This specialist equipment was an absolute necessity when caring for Sienna but they are very expensive to hire. I would like to help by donating another hip spica table to the children's ward for other families to use on their hip spica journey.
Thank you so much for your support!
