Story
I work full time as a Paramedic, in my spare time, I joined Surrey
Search and Rescue a little under a year ago. I feel that their
specialist skillset are an enormous asset to the emergency services, and
to the vulnerable people that the team go out to find, care for or
bring closure to families in distress.
I am now in the process of joining the Swift Water Rescue team, this
fundraising will go to the provision of essential kit: dry suits, thermals and safety equipment. This will mean that I am able to search the canals and waterways in Surrey, assist in water searches from our boats and assist in flood responding (which SurSAR did during the Chertsey floods). To do this I need a drysuit, these are expensive and if I can raise the money for this myself then SurSAR can direct their fundraising towards other needs.
Specialist Training, Saving Lives
Surrey Search & Rescue is a 100% voluntary specialist search team which
helps the emergency services find missing vulnerable adults and
children. We are on-call 24 hours a day, with a team of 50+ people and 8
Search Dogs to respond across Surrey and surrounding areas.
Any Terrain, Any Weather
We are trained to find and give first aid to anyone who is reported
missing or lost and evacuate them to safety. We operate in woodland,
farmland, town centres and around water, where the emergency services need help and manpower.'
