Snowdon challenge · 3 September 2016

The Nowzad charity delivers animal welfare in Afghanistan & Ukraine. Our clinic in Kabul delivers vital support to over worked horses & donkeys whilst providing care and treatment to injured cats & dogs. In Ukraine we are delivering vital aid to those in desperate need of animal supplies.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm thrilled to say that Wlodek, Oliver and me, together with the rest of the Nowzad Snowdon group, and Animals Asia group, successfully completed walking up and down Snowdon yesterday.   It was a very challenging walk for me I have to say!

The weather was not kind!  It was chucking it down the whole time, and then the winds got stronger and stronger ... Everyone ended up totally soaked.   At the top it was very cold.  Coming down was scary .. trying not to get blown off the mountain .. having to scramble over slippery rocks .. it was a huge relief to get back down .. but felt like a great achievement!  And we've raised over £800 for Nowzad (including the gift aid) - so we are so pleased!  Thanks to all who supported us and encouraged me.  I still can't hardly believe that I did it!

Below is my story of how I came to know about Nowzad:

I heard Pen Farthing talking about Nowzad on Radio 2 a while ago.  I was so impressed and touched with his story of how Nowzad began, that I immediately went on the website, bought three of his books, and made a donation.  What Nowzad do is wonderful.  I recommend you have a look on their website :-)

Snowdon will be a big challenge for me.    Having spent 30 years on the sofa, I began being a bit more active about 2 years ago.  It's a slow process but now I manage a slow2 mile jog a couple of times a week - so I must be getting a bit fitter!  Before this September I need to get my walking boots on more, so hopefully going up hills will gradually be less of a struggle ...
