Story

I am participating in the 26 mike trek from Stonehenge to Avebury, with my friend Sophie, in need of people suffering from the terrible disease Alzheimers. The trek is meant to take 10-12 hours to walk and is moderate-tough to complete.

I have now completed the event and it was a lot harder than anticipated. It was definitely a dramatic trek to say the least. Unfortunately, due to the uneven terrain and rocky roads we had to walk across, my friend twisted her ankle a couple of times. We initially laughed it off but it started worsening till the point she could no longer walk. We reached the 18 mile point with a lot of help from many other kind walkers and sadly, she had to get picked up. She suffered from a sprained ankle and had to seek medical treatment. However, I decided to solider on on my own as I not only wanted to complete it for me but for Sophie as well. There were 4 miles left to go when I met these 2 lovely ladies who offered to walk with me to keep me company. I can say for sure, that I would not have made it if it wasn't for them and their encouraging words. The last mile was definitely the hardest as I was suffering from severe blisters as I had brand new walking boots on (definitely a BIG mistake there). I could barely even walk or even hobble at this point and really felt like giving up until someone offered me their walking sticks to help me through the last 300 yards or so. Walking over the finish line was rather emotional but the sense of achievement we all felt was incredible when we were greeted with medals which were placed over our heads. I was congratulated by many as I think me and my friend were one of the youngest there.

If you would be so kind to donate, I would be greatly appreciated. Even if it's just a pound, it's a pound more than nothing!
You never know, Alzheimers might affect you one day.

A BIG thanks to the Alzheimers team and participates for making it a special and definitely memorable day for everyone.
