Lou and Dan's tribute to Ray and Team Bones!

Yorkshire Three Peaks #TeamBonesTrek · 21 July 2019 ·
Hi to all who have clicked onto our page,
Over the course of this summer, myself (Lou) and Dan will be taking part in a couple of physical challenges to raise vital funds in support of Bone Cancer Research Trust.
In 2013, Lou's amazing Dad, Ray was tragically affected by Advanced Bowel Cancer and lost his life in 5 short, horrific months. The void of Ray's larger than life personality and even bigger Yorkshire heart will never leave Lou and her two wonderful sisters.
When Lou decided to become an Adult Nurse out of dedication to supporting other patients and families through their own turmoil, oncology became less of a bad memory and more about making a positive future. Now working at Bone Cancer Research Trust, Lou is overjoyed to be supporting patients and families directly affected by Primary Bone Cancer. Making up approximately 0.2% of all cancers diagnosed in UK, Primary Bone Cancer, otherwise known as bone sarcoma, is an incredibly rare, aggressive disease. Brutal, high dose chemotherapy, surgery and in some cases, compromising a limb are at the heart of the treatment of this devastating cancer.
So - help us to inject enjoyment, community and funds into RESEARCHING, INFORMING, SUPPORTING and creating more AWARENESS around Primary Bone Cancer and cancer in general. All of them suck and should not exist!!!!
Lou will be taking part in the AJ Bell World Triathlon in Leeds on Saturday 8th June and both Lou and Dan will be donning their walking boots and hiking poles for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Sunday 21st July. We have taken neither of these on lightly but can't wait to cross the finish line feeling proud.
For every son, daughter, Mum, Dad, brother, sister, friend, neighbour (the list goes on) affected by this cruel, C-shaped world, let's keep shining on.
Lou and Dan :-)
