The Beacons Way - 100m for WHWR

Beacons Way · 25 July 2022
On 1st August I will be heading off to attempt to walk The Beacons Way, all 100 miles of it! Carrying everything I'll need for 9/10 days, camping along the way (some of it wild as there are no camp sites!) and I would so love your support for this crazy challenge I've given myself
The route winds its way across the Brecon Beacons from Abergavenny in the East to Llangadog in the West. It covers varied terrain from the high peaks of the central beacons to the valleys separating these great tops and everything in between. The highest point is Pen y Fan at 886m.
I've had so many people ask what charity I am doing this for (because I couldn't possibly just be doing it for fun!) so I thought I'd put this fundraising page together for Welwyn Hatfield Women's Refuge who I am partnering with to deliver mindfulness courses in the autumn.
They do incredible work supporting women and children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are an independent organisation run by women, for women. You can find out more about what they do here - https://whwr.org.uk/.
Shockingly, domestic violence is on the rise with an increase of 6% from the previous year, representing 18% of all offences recorded by the police in the year ending March 2021 (Office for National Statistics).
So, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Whatever you can afford would be so much appreciated and you can follow my 'expedition' on my social channels below:
