Holidays are my life…quite literally, your holidays pay my
mortgage!

But in all seriousness, holidays are my lifeline, an opportunity to relax from the stresses of every day and to reconnect with my family.  

I have worked for TUI for 15 years, and we have always been a partner of the Family Holiday Association (FHA).  Over the years I have heard so many inspiring stories about the families that the FHA supports and it has made me realise how incredibly lucky I am that I genuinely can’t remember a year without a holiday.

Don’t get me wrong, my family had to save hard for our holidays, but we never had bigger obstacles to overcome. To some of the holidays that the FHA supports, a holiday is literally life transforming.  They could be struggling with everything from domestic assault to terminal illness to severe poverty, and they are all referred to the FHA by professionals in the community.

A recent report by the FHA reveals that 99% of family support workers work with children who haven’t had a summer break this year…or
even visited a local park.  They have also all worked with children who have had to make up what they did over the summer holidays so they don’t get bullied at school.  This genuinely broke my heart.

I always said I’d never run a marathon, why on earth would I,
it’s such a long way!!  But then the opportunity arose to run London Marathon to raise money for the FHA and in a moment of madness I applied!

I run regularly with the Wheathampstead Warriors, but really
I only run as it’s a cheap way to keep fit, it’s a good opportunity to see my friends, and we have really great parties! 

Running a marathon is going to be a HUGE challenge.
