Story
Two years ago my son Deacon was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma (cancer in the immune cells) and this of course changed our family forever.
I remember speaking to Katie at Gold Geese about Deacon's diagnosis and the first thing I asked her was advice on how I support his brother Jackson.
Deacon didn't have a choice, he had to go into hospital, the treatments were going to be awful but there was no other way to save his life. But what about Jackson? How do I support him? Where do I even begin? What do you even say to a 7 year old? So many questions that I didn’t have the answers to.
This is where the amazing charity Gold Geese supported us and helped us through these challenging times, making sure that we were all constantly ok, from late night text messages to creating happy memories in the worst possible time but most importantly providing guidance and the comfort that there was someone we could turn to, someone who had experienced this before.
I want to give something back to this fantastic charity and therefore... In September I am challenging myself to run 200km across 30 days (the most I've run in a month is 70km!!) not only to raise funds for Gold Geese but also to raise awareness for Children with Cancer.
There are many families going through the heartache that is childhood cancer and the support by Gold Geese Charity is invaluable.
If you could please sponsor my run I would be eternally grateful as you will be supporting such a wonderful and important charity that is very very dear to me.
Love
