We fund medical research to treat Secondary Breast Cancer

Story

In 2015, our beautiful, kind Louise was diagnosed with Primary Breast Cancer. She went through gruelling chemotherapy, hair loss, radiotherapy, sickness, hysterectomy and a Lumpectomy. In 2020 Lou was given the 5 year all clear and we were all over the moon.

In September 2020, Louise went to get a scan due to severe back pain, which had been going on for several months beforehand and had become unbearably painful for her. This was when we were given the shocking news that unfortunately the cancer had spread and she was diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer on her bones.

On 29th September 2021 - Louise sadly lost her battle and passed away peacefully surrounded by all the people she loved.

Her wish was to raise as much awareness as possible for Secondary Breast Cancer - copied from her facebook, this is her wish!

"More needs to be said about SBC. More needs to researched into SBC. More needs to be taught about SBC.

SBC happens when the original tumour from BC spreads. This is also known as metastatic breast cancer. In my case, it spread to my bones and later, my liver. I was completely unaware that I had it and thought that my back pain was muscular. The thought that it could be SBC never even entered my head as I had had 5 clear mammograms. That's 5 years of me thinking I was cancer free. I now have cancer in my spine, ribs, sternum, pelvis, hips, both femurs and my liver. As most of you know I have been on treatment since October last year and we have now found a chemo that is working, my liver tumors are shrinking and I am now classed as stable (thank goodness) we have it under control, but we can never rid my body of it completely. I am fighting, and will continue to fight with every bone in my body (pardon the pun!)
Education is key. I wish the media would realise that"

It is now her sons wishes to make sure more is done, so that other families, sons, daughter's, sisters, brothers etc can spend as much time with their loved ones who are living with SBC and LIVE WITH IT for the very very long time.

We love you Louise - and we will miss you but make sure that we can do all we can to help raise awareness and money for this charity.

We put Secondary Breast Cancer first. Because there is no cure yet. This disease spreads to the rest of the body and affects women and men. So finding a cure means a diagnosis is no longer an ultimatum. People will have more days doing what matters most, living the life they love.
