Story

Hello!

Myself and a team of Motorsport drivers, pundits and journalists are all running the Great North Run this September.  Egged on by Paul O’Neill i jumped at the chance of a) raising awareness and funds for an incredible sporting charity, and b) as the only girl, represent the females in our industry!

I always preach to my kids that I’m a memory maker, not a home maker - purely because I value the quality and quantity of our lives and the time we spend together living life, as more important than anything materialistic.  I invest so much of my energy into having fun, and making memories because in my head, this the one thing I will judge my life by when im old and unable.  BUT, then it hit me, imagine if Alzheimer’s or dementia struck me, and everything I knew about my life and the world around me was taken away.  Imagine your ‘slate’ wiped clean, and you didn’t have those memories you invested and deposited throughout your whole life.  It doesn’t bear thinking about.

The work that Sporting Memories does is incredible and such a wonderful way of helping the victims of dementia and Alzheimer’s to be happy, to remember and to feel valued.

As someone who has loved, enjoyed, participated and worked in sport ( of some sort) my whole life I believe the work of Sporting Memories is invaluable.

Although I’ve being running since School, I have yet to enter and race a half marathon.  10k has been the longest race I’ve ran and this double distance will be a new challenge for me.
