Story
Dental pain doesn’t just hurt – it’s destructive. Dental pain is a threat to lives and livelihoods.
What if your child had toothache and no hope of help ??
70% of the world have no access to a dentist nearly 3/4 of the worlds population and in developing nations this rises to 90%
Without help, untreated disease devastates every area of daily life and complications can, and do, lead to death
As part of a mission with the charity Bridge2aid I will be travelling to Tanzania, East Africa in April 2020 for 2 weeks of hard volunteer work. We will be treating the local rural communities, providing emergency dental care to some patients who have been in pain for several years, travelled several hours/days on foot or bicycle and waited patiently in the blistering heat to see us!
At the same time I will be training local healthcare workers to provide emergency dental care and cross infection control to help prevent the spread of HIV which is prevalent. We aim to train 6 healthcare workers in the 2 weeks we are in Tanzania and each can look after 10,000 patients. Your donation can help provide emergency care to 60,000 adults and children.
The cost of the DVP lies solely with each volunteer.
I am very excited and privileged to be part of this program. Not only do we get to provide immediate help to the local community but more importantly we leave a legacy behind to continue our good work and put the knowledge and power into the hands of those we are helping rather than disempowering the community, as after all we will be (well intentioned) guests in their country
We take all we have for granted and I am looking forward to sharing my skills to make a difference and to teach Oliver and Frances how important it is to give something back to the world .
