Shevet Achim opens the doors of Israeli hospitals to their neighbours' dying children through using medical facilities in Israel particularly for open heart surgery otherwise not available. Under His Wings provides for the victims of terror attacks, suffering physical injuries and post trauma stress

Story

Please help me raise necessary funds.

WIth running within Israel I've chosen a UK charity that supports projects within Israel. For this run I've chosen two projects that helps those affected by recent conflict both within Israel and also their Arab neighbours in bordering countries and within the region.

Shevit Achim - Opening the doors of Israeli hospitals to their neighbours' dying children.

Medical facilities in Israel are among the world’s finest, yet kilometers away Arab children are dying for lack of care. This is particularly true for the hundreds born each year with congenital heart defects. Open-heart surgery can give most of these dying children a normal life, yet it is unavailable or inaccessible in their own areas. Israeli doctors and hospitals are willing to rescue these children, and in most cases bear a majority of the expense themselves. Our role is to find the children, transport them to Israel, and provide financial support as needed.

Shevet Achim is a project supported by Christian Friends of Israel UK

Under His Wings

Since the outbreak of the Second Intifada in late September 2000, between Oct 2001 and October 2011, the statistics show that there were 664 people killed, and 3,501 injured as the result of suicide attacks.  In all probability, Israel will have to continue dealing with the threat of suicide terrorism, as the fundamentalist terror groups are unlikely to abandon the use of “human bombs” because they see how devastating the damage they have brought to Israeli society.

Project UHW was born in response to the increased number of terrorist attacks throughout the Land of Israel. For the victims of terror attacks, aside from suffering caused by physical injuries, the post trauma stress has left them having trouble sleeping, having nightmares, experiencing terrible anxiety, fearful of leaving home, and light or severe depression. They are unable to maintain a normal life, let alone to go back to their jobs. Therefore, many victims and their families are facing tremendous hardships mentally, emotionally and financially.

Bind Up Their Wounds

For some survivors of terror attacks, the psychological damage and scars are more difficult to heal than the outward physical injuries.

CFI Volunteers in the Under His Wings program visit with the victims at these times, compassionately "listening" and acknowledging their continuing pain, bringing love, gifts and financial help from supporters of CFI worldwide. For more info please visit:
