Story
Most of you will know very well that I'm not one of lifes 'runners'. In fact, I've only ever been know to pick up speed when I'm on the way to the pub (or - since children - to Starbucks for my daily fix).
Most you you will also know that on January 17th this year I lost my mum to cancer of the bile duct - specifically cholangiocarcenoma. She fought a huge battle - but the cancer she had (CC for short ) was one of the 'nasty ones'. Since she died we've discovered the AMMF - a charity dedicated to cancers like my mother had - which specifically targets research in this area.
It's important work. A lot of people diagnosed with CC are given weeks or just months to live (my mum lived for 13 months after diagnosis which indicates the battle she had). The AMMF is funding research looking into a) early diagnosis of CC and b) more effective treatment methods. I know that even another few months with my mother would have been priceless. This reseach will hopefully make that happen for other families.
So - to help with this research my sister Megan and I doing a 5k run (the Race for Life) in Cardiff in July... We've been 'training' since February ' - and can even run up a few hills now!!
If you can spare a few pounds - I would be so grateful - it is such a good cause....
