Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2011 my great-gran (my Nanawin) had a major stroke which paralysed her down the right side and left her unable to eat or drink normally. She was fed through a PEG tube and the only liquid she could drink had to be thickened with a special powder. This powder makes the drink either a syrup or custard-like consistency, dependent upon how much is used. On 31st August this year, my Grandad had a stroke and now also has to drink any liquids he has with thickener in them.

So my challenge is as follows:
For 12 hours on Tuesday 8th September 2015 I will thicken any liquids I drink. I will make sure to thicken it to both consistencies, to really experience just how hard it is for stroke victims. I will keep my blog (www.talkaboutchat.wordpress.com) updated on how my challenge is going and will post pictures/videos to prove how thick the drinks really are.

Any donations are greatly appreciated, but even if you don't want to donate, I urge you to please read up on the signs and symptoms of strokes- this information can truly save lives.
