Story
In June, I will be attempting the Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise money for the Burma Education Partnership and the FutureSense Foundation. Doing this will be an incredibly tough experience, and I would greatly appreciate any sponsorship!
I am supporting these charities as part of my trip to Cambodia this summer, through Durham University Charities Kommittee (DUCK). I will be teaching English in schools in Samraong, a prospect which is both scary and exciting! Cambodia is still recovering from the dictatorship of the Khmer Rouge, during which a third of the population died. For the majority of the inhabitants, income remains desperately low, and teachers are poorly paid; educational aid is greatly needed.
The total cost of the trip is £2200, half of which is going directly to the charities we are helping. We are supporting the Burma Education Partnership (http://www.burmaeducationpartnership.org/), which provides educational support for Burmese refuges in Thailand. Additionally, we are raising money for the FutureSense Foundation (http://www.futuresense.co.uk/ourCharity.aspx), a charity which supports small communities, and works towards the improvement of education.
I have been working at Clarks shoe shop during the holidays to raise the money to fund my flights and accommodation costs, and I am fundraising for the £1100 that goes to the charities. I have been rag raiding (dressed as a smurf!), and I am currently training for the Three Peaks Challenge.
Any donations on this page will go directly to BEP and FutureSense; I would really appreciate any support!
Thank you!
