Story

Rafferty's family Pig Racing night was on Saturday 12th October 2019 at Kings Hill School and was an amazing success. Thank you to everyone that came along and supported us.

As most of you know Raffy was diagnosed with Crohns Disease just before Christmas last year. He had been ill for quite some time and had lost a lot of weight and was exhausted all the time. We just could not get to the bottom of what was wrong with him. It was a tough time for him. Once we had a diagnosis Raff had an NG tube fitted  and did not eat for 8 weeks. We fed him 4 times a day through the tube, and continued with everything he could including playing football, singing at the o2 with his class and working hard at school! His bravery and attitude was amazing and we were so proud of how he has dealt with his illness.

The first night without the NG tube we went to Pig Racing with the Cubs and Raffy loved it. This is why we have arranged this event and want to bring together friends and family and raise money and awareness for this great charity.

CICRA provided us with much needed information when Raff was diagnosed and hold family information days, one of which we are attending in November. Raff also has a penpal which he loves writing too, which the charity set up. The charity also funds research into Crohns Disease and Ulcerative colitis.

Raffy is on an immunosuppressant drug, but has just started a new stronger treatment. This is a biologic infusion called infliximab, initially every two weeks then moving to every 8 weeks.  He is admitted as a day patient to have this treatment and we are hopeful this will really help Raffy.

Crohns Disease is an autoimmune disease and currently there is no cure.
