Virgin London Marathon 2016 · 24 April 2016 ·

Every day, people living with terminal illness are given the choice to stay at home by Helen's Trust. By responding to the needs of individuals and their families we help people stay at home, bringing comfort and support at the end of their lives.

Story

On April 24th 2016, thanks to Lucozade Sport, I'll be running 26.2 miles in memory of my partner's grandpa, Eric Bowler, who led a life filled to the brim with hard work, family, creating memories, and making the most of every opportunity that passed his way. Eric was supported by local charity Helen's Trust in the last few months of his life: they made a world of difference as Eric was able to stay at home with his family until the very end.

I am so grateful for everything Helen's Trust have done for Eric and his family. As a small, local charity they are desperately short of funding and yet they provide such an important service, supporting people to live out their life at home with their family, and not in a faceless hospital bed. Please dig deep and spare whatever you can for this wonderful charity. I promise to train hard and run my best on the day, for Eric and for Helen's Trust.
