Forever Angels provides interim care for orphaned babies until a permanent family can be found. We believe in FAMILY. Maisha Matters supports orphaned babies in their own homes with life saving formula milk whilst empowering their families through business creation and education.

Story

In May 2018 I will be travelling out to Mwanza in Tanzania to volunteer at Forever Angels Baby Home. I will be volunteering for three months, to work with this wonderful charity and support an amazing project.

Forever Angels is a charity that was set up to try to tackle this issue by providing interim care to families across the Tanzania community. The Maisha Matters project  was born as a way to help prevent families from having to abandon their babies, by giving access to formula milk, providing babies with the nutrition they need. Using a holistic approach, the project focuses primarily on the baby's health and welfare needs, whilst also supporting the family to attempt to find the root cause of their struggle. The Maisha Matters project provides outreach support by giving babies with no lactating mother the nutritional support they need. This in turn endeavours to reduce poverty and hunger amongst young, growing families and ultimately to reduce infant mortality.

I am asking for donations and will be attempting to raise as much money as I can to support this wonderful charity - all money raised will go directly to the charity. This is an idea of what can be done with £500:

- Put one baby and their family through the Maisha Matters Programme.

- 3 months salary for someone working in the Baby Home

- 100 mosquito nets

- £10 can provide one baby with a week supply of life saving nutrition, and £60 could give one family a month of nutrition and empowerment.

So in May I will be heading out to Mwanza to volunteer at the Forever Angels Baby Home for 3 months.

As I start teacher training this September, working with little ones to give them some hope for the future is very important to me. I can't wait to go out and work with this wonderful charity, however before I do this I will be aiming to raise money by taking part in the Brighton Marathon 10k. This will take quite a bit of training on my part, I've been sat on my bum in an office for 5 months and I am certainly no runner, but I'm excited for the challenge and hope I can do my bit before heading out to Tanzania.

So please if you can spare anything, I would really appreciate it! Anything and everything you give goes directly to this charity.
