Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know two of my elder children are epileptic. Running for Epilpsy action gives me and you an opportunity to support this great charity and the work they do. Epilepsy action acts as a voice for the 456,000 people with epilepsy in Britain. they support individuals, their friends, families, health professionals and others on whose lives the condition has an effect.
Neil, who is 22, is studying for his masters degree at Sussex university. He is hoping to continue studying and start a PhD next year. He is a senior coach at the university IMA club and is training for his first triathlon in May. Neil's epilepsy is well controlled by medication. His seizures do impact on his life, interupting his studying from time to time and he has to self limit some of the activities he would otherwise engage in, in order to keep himself safe. Neil has been supported by a fantastic core of friends.
Kath is 20. Her epilepsy is also well controlled and she was seizure free long enough to learn to drive. Having a car gave Kath an incredible amount of freedom. Unfortunately she had a seizure in the autumn and has had to hand her licence in. This has had an incredible impact on her. Simple chores like getting a doctors appointment now require a morning off work. Buses and trains do not run to our individual needs and activites do not always occur close to the train or bus station. Kath begins training as a midwife this spring. She is positive about life, whilst still frustrated by the limitations she has to work within.
