The Rainforest Foundation UK aims to protect tropical rainforests by working with those who know the forest best – indigenous peoples and traditional forest dwellers. By supporting them, we're taking a major step forward in the battle to combat climate change.

Story

As many of you will know, to say I'm not athletically gifted is something of an astronomically enormous understatement... however, I'm attempting to do something useful with my body before it withers away from lack of muscle use.

I love travelling – definitely a Rowland mentality bred from an early age – but I often get frustrated that some incredible places on earth I've had the privilege to visit (or would like to visit) are being threatened and destroyed, and it's pretty difficult to do anything practical about it as a broke English student sitting in a house in Birmingham.

That's where the half marathon comes in – I would be so grateful if you could spare some of your hard-earned pennies to go towards preventing some of the wildest, most beautiful places in the world, and their inhabitants, from disappearing. According to the Rainforest Foundation (a 4/4* rated charity), it takes around £25 to protect on acre of rainforest – but anything at all you can donate would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Lucy
