Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to participate in the Cheshire Half Marathon which is happening very soon on Sunday 20th September 2020!! I will be running this half marathon to celebrate the kindest, strongest, bravest and most wonderful person in the world, my Mum. This is an incredibly significant date for us as this will be my Mum’s birthday. Not only this, September is also Blood Cancer Awareness Month, therefore, there seemed no better opportunity than this to make my Mum proud and to raise awareness by challenging myself with something a little out of my comfort zone.

In doing so, I hope to raise as much money as possible for Wards 201 & 202 at R.S.U.H. We will be forever grateful to Wards 201 & 202 for the care and support they provided for all of us over the last few years, especially for Mum. Any money raised goes towards helping to make patients receiving treatment on these wards feel as comfortable as possible. Having witnessed how much time patients spend on these wards, and the wonderful, personalised care the staff provide, I can’t think of a more appropriate charity to support. If raising a little bit of money can help them to continue to provide the vital treatment, care and support for other patients and their families facing a similar journey then I would be delighted.

I will also be running this half marathon in support of Lymphoma Action by wearing my Lymphoma Action running vest. We will always support Lymphoma Action to help to raise awareness and support medical research in the hope that, one day, a cure can be found for the numerous types of debilitating blood cancers that affect so many people, many of which are currently incurable.

If you feel you are able to give a donation, no matter how big or small, it will be hugely appreciated by both myself and my family. Hopefully, I can channel my Mum’s strength, perseverance and positivity to help me to get to the finish line. I know she will be with me every step of the way and I hope you all will be too!

Thank you,

Lucy
