Luke's going to canoe the River Thames · 29 August 2014

Fight for Peace uses boxing and martial arts, combined with education and personal development to realise the potential of young people in communities affected by crime and violence. We inspire young people to reach their full potential - to be champions in the ring, and in life.

Story

At the end of August I will be attempting to canoe the length of the Thames from its source in Cricklade, Wiltshire, to the city of London. This equals around 140 miles over 6 days, and will be paddling on average for 7 hours per day.

This is a CRAZY challenge and it will be extremely gruelling and tiring! But that's all part of the fun.

This is all in the name of a great organisation called Fight for Peace. I was introduced to the Woolwich-based employability and martial arts training centre through my work's charity the Forward Foundation. Some of the people who benefit from FFP are some of the most disadvantaged and determined people, and every single penny you donate here will go straight into improving facilities and increasing their reach.

I'll be funding the challenge entirely by myself.

I am hugely appreciative of your support!

The next step is learning how to use a canoe, and getting on the rowing machine! Wish me luck, and thanks again.
