Supporting Mental Health Care at Overlook Hospital

Luke Lagunowich is raising money for Overlook Foundation

Mental Health at the Hersh Children's Center at Overlook Hospital · 19 February 2021

As young people, we want to reach out to our community on behalf of our peers who may be dealing with mental health issues, and ensure that their needs are met with dignity and compassion in the hospital setting.

Story

My name is Luke Lagunowich, a junior at Chatham High School, and this year, I am a member of the Overlook Foundation Junior Board at Overlook Medical Center (OMC) in Summit, NJ. This year, as a group, we have decided to focus our support on constructing a room in the pediatric emergency department in the newly constructed Hersh Children's Center. The room is specifically designed for children and teenagers displaying symptoms of mental illness.

With the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, this last year has been very difficult and especially challenging for children and teenagers. Overlook Hospital has always been at the forefront of pediatric mental health care. At the newly constructed Hersh Center, with readily accessible inpatient rooms designed specifically for mental health care, the hospital will be even better equipped to treat pediatric mental illness. By supporting this grant, you will be directly contributing to a vital mental health resource for children and teens in our community.
