My name is Luke Vujnovic, I am a past pupil of Salesian College Battersea (2000-2005), where I was also the school captain. I am running the Bupa Great South Run in order to raise money for the Salesian's and assist them with whatever projects they are currently engaged with.
For all those who are not aware, the Salesian's primarily operate shelters for homeless or at-risk youths; community centres for youths and adults, schools and learning centres and parish churches worldwide.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Salesian College Battersea, and despite the common assertion 'you lose all your childhood friends when you grow up', I feel confindent in speaking on behalf of numerous Salesian past pupils when I say that this hasn't been the case for many of us.
I'm running the Bupa Great South Run on their behalf as I would like to repay them for providing all their pupils with an excellent education and joyful experience. I hope they can contiune doing this worldwide.
The race is 10 miles long, i'm well prepared for it, so my aim is to get a fast time, however, I had to take into consideration that my running partner Fenan Dawit, also a Salesian pupil in the same class as me is not quite as fit as me and may be facing an overwhelming struggle!!!!!
On a serious note, it would be great to see this become an annual event, and it would be great to see the number of past pupil participants increase each year.
