Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page - I have never run a 10K before so this will be quite the challenge for me!
I'm hoping to complete the run in close to one hour. A government report in 2013 found that around 97,000 adults experience rape or attempted sexual assault in England & Wales every year. That's roughly 11 every hour. In the time it will take me to complete this race, 11 more adults will become survivors of these life-altering crimes. And that's just the adults.
While more and more women are reporting experiences of rape to police, prosecutions for this horrific offence hit a record low in 2020. This means hundreds of thousands of women are trying to deal with their assault while their attacker lives freely in their community. Hundreds of thousands more women and girls are at risk.
Your donation to SARSVL will help make their invaluable services available for all the women and girls who will need them in the coming year. This includes advocates, a helpline, and specialist counsellors.
I decided to run for SARSVL to say thank you for the support they offered me as a volunteer. I've seen what their services can do for women working to rebuild their lives and cannot recommend them highly enough.
Please consider donating just a couple of pounds towards this incredible cause, and I will promise not to complain too much about how tired and achey I am!
Thank you :)
