Story

Why?
I've created this page in memory of my inspirational and all round brilliant stepdad, Frank Butters, who passed away from cancer in September 2009. If you've found yourself here then it's likely you either know me, my mum (Caroline Butters) or you just knew Frank via your own connection - so thank you for getting this far.

When it came to fundraising Frank was a true inspiration to me growing up - whether it was through Bewdley Rotary Club, Friends of Wolverly Church or for just about any good cause going Frank was there with a bucket or a BBQ doing his bit. Nothing was ever too much hassle for him and he was always ready and willing to get stuck in and give his time for others.

We will all have fond memories of many a Shelsley Walsh hill climb, Wolverley village hall quiz, pie and mash nights, Bewdley pig roasts and much much more spent with Frank (usually drinking and eating far too much!) and it is those memories that have encouraged me to carry on in Frank's footsteps.

His sudden illness and death was a devastating loss and harsh reminder to all of us that life can be too short and cruel. I want to make sure that Frank's zest for life, willingness to give, humour and true individuality lives on and inspires us to remember that we too can help others.

What I've done

On Saturday 7th May, myself and 20 of my colleagues from Time Etc team (www.timeetc.co.ukclimbed Mt. Snowdon via the (death defying) Pyg track. We managed to get the whole team to the top in 3 hours, smashing our target of 4. I made it there in just over 2 and was the 3rd member of the team to make it to the top!

We conquered 60 mph winds, torrential rain (the whole way), jagged rock faces and teaming waterfalls to make it there but we did it & are so proud to have done so.

All money raised through this page will go straight to St Richard's Hospice.

Time Etc raised for Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, Acorns Hospice and Ovarian Cancer Action & so far have raised £4,202.51,  see the page I created here:

St Richard's Hospice

For those of you that don't know, St Richard's is a hospice in Worcester that takes care of cancer sufferers at all stages of their illness. It is a truly wonderful place with fantastic, motivational staff and volunteers. The beautiful grounds, modern building and all the patient, kind staff made the world of difference to Frank's family and I'm sure to Frank also - we owe them greatly.

It's really important to know that 68% of their annual running costs has to come from voluntary donations and the remaining 32% is contributed by the Worcestershire Primary Care Trust.

They need to raise £5m this year to run their services.

Thank yous so far...

This is a perfect opportunity to thank all those that have helped us raise money so far.

At Frank's funeral we raised an amazing:

£1000 for St Richard's
£500 for the Milbrook Cancer Unit at Kidderminster Hospital
£250 for Wolverley Church

Thank you also to Bewdley Rotary Club who last year raised £888 from the bucket shake at Shelsley Walsh which was rounded up to £1000 by my mum and given to St Richard's.

Thank you to Bambos & Pam Constantinou for their generous donation of £100 "in memory of a very dear friend".
