Wanderers Cycle 200 miles from London to Paris for Ataxia

Wanderers London to Paris 2015 · 30 July 2015
Most people have never heard of ataxia. But you have - just now!
Ataxia is the name given to a group of conditions that can affect people's nervous systems. Anyone of any age can get ataxia. There are over 10,000 people with ataxia in the UK today. Many of them are children. Ataxia affects people's balance and the way they talk, walk and move. It can make them feel very unsteady on their feet and as they get older, it usually gets a lot worse and causes lots more health problems.
So far, no one has found a cure for ataxia. But Ataxia UK is determined to find one … and we need your help to support them.
Leaving on July 30th, the Ladies 4's Hockey Team from the Wanderers Hockey Club (plus valiant support crew) are going to cycle over 200 miles this summer from London to Paris to raise awareness and fundraise for Ataxia. None of us have ever cycled this far before, and some of the girls have not been on a bike since they were at school, so this is a challenge to say the least! The training is well underway, the matching lycra has been ordered and the bums are already scared, so please help motivate us to keep cycling up Box Hill by donating to the cause through this page. However big or small, your donation will be greatly appreciated.
The team: Hannah Willcock, Lynn Unick, Flo Tellwright, Abigail Mercer, Siobhan Price, Jess Herring, Kirsty Carr, Helen Kennedy and Sara McCraight.
We have organised all the logistics, travel, accommodation etc ourselves and are completely funding ourselves and the support car all the way so EVERY PENNY OF THIS FUNDRAISING will go to the charity (unlike other organised L2P cycles where some of the fundraising needs to cover costs).
Special thanks to Waves Car Wash for their sponsorship of the team kit http://www.wavescarwash.co.uk/
