Story

Edit: injuries suck.

Unfortunately I fell in the garden and sustained a tendon injury which is taking a frustratingly long time to heal. Not wanting to let everyone down completely, my wonderful husband, George has agreed to run in my place.

I'm entering the London Marathon 2022 to raise vital funds for Calvert Trust Exmoor and I need your support!

As you may know, I started running in 2019 to help my wonderful friend Claire train for the 2020 London marathon. Training was going well until Covid-19 hit and postponed all events and, unfortunately, the majority of fundraising activities.

I continued running throughout the pandemic because I found fresh air and exercise had a positive impact on my mental and physical wellbeing. I’ve always been a firm believer in promoting activity, exercise and the outdoors to develop confidence and independence, especially in my young children, and jumped at the change to participate in the 2022 London marathon for the Calvert Trust.

The Calvert Trust is an award-winning activity centre located next to Wistlandpound Reservoir on the edge of Exmoor. The charity enables people with physical, learning, behavioral and sensory disabilities from all over the country to experience exciting, challenging and enjoyable outdoor activities in a safe environment.

In addition to the reduction of fundraising activities over the last two years, the opportunity for families, schools and groups to visit a centre which is equipped to help people that wouldn’t otherwise be able to  benefit from outdoor activities has not been possible, therefore raising funds for the Calvert Trust is more important now than ever.

Running 26 .2 miles will be a huge challenge for me, I am anxious but determined. Please show your support and encouragement by donating anything you can and watch this space for updates! Thank you.
