My beautiful, vibrant mum was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in December and has had incredible support from the Macmillan team throughout recent treatment, as have we as a family. To say she’s had a rough time of it would be an understatement and we have recently found out that her first lot of treatment hasn’t worked so it’s onto something else, with the continued support from Macmillan.

Because I am terrible at being helpless and need a decent distraction, on 28th June, me and my long-suffering, eternally-supportive boyfriend Kev are going to walk 26 miles for Macmillan, through the stunning Yorkshire Dales. I signed him up without checking and he just goes with it!

Any donations towards this amazing charity will be gratefully received.

As this is a Macmillan specific event and I can’t raise donations for another charity, I am going to also personally donate £200 to the Firefighters Charity who have also offered support to our family, despite my dad retiring from the fire service 15 years ago! This is especially important to me now that I also work for NYFRS.
