MSF's 2013 Zakat Appeal · 26 June 2013

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

MSF and Syria

The crisis in Syria is deepening. The medical system is reduced to tatters. An estimated 6.8 million people are in urgent need of assistance inside Syria and in neighbouring countries.

Inside Syria
MSF is now running five hospitals across northern Syria. We are one of the few international aid organisations working in opposition-held areas, and are increasing mobile clinic activities around our hospitals to reach more Syrians in need. Despite our best efforts, we are not yet able to work in government controlled areas of the country.

Refugees
We are also providing lifesaving medical care  and distributing water, blankets, hygine kits, stoves and charcoal to some of the 1.5 million Syrians who have fled the war to Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

Thank you
MSF is using only public donations for its work in and around Syria in order to remain entirely independent of all political positioning around the crisis. It’s the financial support of individuals like you that allows us this freedom, and has enabled us to perform 2,481 surgeries, 854 deliveries and over 180,000 consultations in and around Syria since the conflict began.

We cannot do this without you.
