Story

SO WHAT IS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS?
Well scientifically it is the most common disease of the central nervous system (CNS) & It effects everyone differently. Not a huge amount is known about itor why you get it and there is NO CURE... but what does it actually mean to have MS.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE WITH MS?

... Well .. IMAGINE LIVING IN A BODY THAT DOESNT DO WHAT YOU WANT ! -

Some people get very tired but can live a nearly nomal life, some people have relapses and lose function in their arms and legs, but then gain back strength over time, & in my dads case... it slowly “turns off your body”. Things like walking, raising your arms, using a knife and fork or everyday tasks become impossible. Over the last 8-10 years my dad (Whose also my hero) has gone from being one of the fittest blokes you would ever meet to someone who cant walk unaided & was medically retired. Imagine telling your body to walk up a kerb or wash your hair, and it just doesnt react.

SO WHAT ARE WE FUNDRAISING FOR?
Currently my dad - ’The Chief’ - volunteers at the Gloucestershire Multiple Sclerosis Information & Therapy Centre, it’s an amazing place run by amazing people. They help patients who have just been told they MS with counselling or maybe just a knowledgeable chat, as well as an oxygen chamber that is not only used for MS patients but also sportsmen and women / general public with injuries etc.

THE TASK:
As MS is a disease that effects how easily you can move (or stops you moving all together) I thought id take in a mammoth physical & Mental challenge. -

Now let me just say first off.. I am by no means a runner or an endurance athlete.. but on OCTOBER 6th I will be taking part in a SPARTAN BEAST RACE - that’s a half marathon (13 Miles) with around 30 obstacles, including: crawling through barbed wire, battling through wet, cold, muddy bogs, carrying atlas stones and running through fire. It’s the toughest, longest and hardest spartan race you can do. For more info visit www.Spartan.com

I won’t be running it alone, I’ll be with 2 of my good friends Andrew Pitt & Robert Pooley from Saepio Solutions - www.Saepio.co.uk. :)

THE AIM:
To raise at least £250 for my dad and his work with the Glos MS Center!!

WHERE DO YOU COME IN?
If you can donate anything at all that would be amazing and hugely appreciated - no amount is too small!

Many thanks & wish me luck!
