The MUFG GCIB Summer Olympic Challenge ran from May – June 2021 and was successful in encouraging us all across GCIB to take time away from our computers and undertake various Olympic activities. 

Thanks to all 333 competitors for your efforts. It was wonderful to see all the photos submitted showing colleagues catching up for a walk, run or cycle. The judges have examined the photo finish and after delivering the biggest weekly points haul recorded SP&SCF managed to wrest back the lead from the Capital Markets team on the finish line. That meant that in the activities points category, SP&SCF claimed gold, Capital Markets silver and FI bronze. 

Almost all the teams claimed the 10 bonus points for completing at least 12 unique activities. But the final 10 bonus points for raising the most money (per person) for charity went to the FI team, which raised an average of £86.6 per person. They are therefore the inaugural winner of the GCIB Summer Olympic Challenge.

Congratulations on a great effort. Not only will they claim bragging rights, but they have also won the right to nominate disABILITY WORKS, as the MUFG Network charity that will receive the £7,431 pledged to date (including MUFG contribution).

disABILITY WORKS have nominated their partner charity Lupus UK, the national charity for people affected by the currently incurable immune system illness Lupus, to receive the funds. Lupus UK have a vision of a world where people with Lupus can live full and active lives and their mission is to empower people by providing information about Lupus and offering support, so their voices are heard and their condition diagnosed and managed effectively.
