We raise funds for financial education to to help children and young people.

Story

This July, 7 employees from MUFG are taking part in the Prudential Ride London to raise money for our flagship charity partner, MyBnk.

Our riders will cycle 100 miles of the 2012 Olympic course so that MyBnk can continue its great work in providing important financial, enterprise and employability skills to disadvantaged young people who would otherwise not learn these skills at school.

18-24 year olds represent more than 20% of the over-indebted population of the UK, and over 21 million families have less than £500 in savings to cover unexpected bills.

Together, we need to provide young people with early education and support them to be financially resilient as they approach adulthood. Each £20 raised will enable the MyBnk to arm a young person with real life money skills to take control of their finances and reduce the risk of debt and poverty.

Meet our cyclists below!

Robert Peters (Facilities) - A keen amateur cyclist. I take part in group rides and sportives around Kent. I'm participating in the Ride 100 in support of MyBnk and their work with young people on how to carefully manage their money in avoiding debt.

Khalil Ibrahim (ESO) - My love of cycling started at a very young age, and came to a stop when I developed asthma during my teens. I started cycling again a few years ago when I found out that cycling from Richmond to the City was 20 minutes faster than taking the train in. Since then, I've been hooked - being on bike rides brings a smile to my face whatever the weather. I decided to complete the Prudential Ride 100 to raise money and awareness for a great cause!

Tim Hall (ESO) - Everyone has one of "those" friends that are a bit cycling mad... and I am that friend! The Ride 100 is one of those events that I have wanted to do, but have never had any luck with the ballot. Then one day Khalil said he had a slot for me if I wanted it - I also suspect he wants to sit in my slipstream the whole way round!

Yuki Tamura (ESO) - I am a keen runner who has joined several marathon races before and started riding this year. The London Prudential Ride 100 would be my first bike race and I am really happy to join such a famous event as part of a team.

Roger Beattie (Facilities) -  I am a keen triathlete (currently training for Ironman Barcelona) so completing Ride 100 will help with my training schedule, but more importantly raising money and awareness to help support MyBnk is the main aim.

Man Hoang (Facilities) - Outside of IT, once a year I brush the dust off and inflate the tires on my rusting bike. Instead of visiting the local Lidl, I thought this year I would join the team and challenge myself to completing the thigh-busting Ride 100 for MyBnk. Please support the team and me to raise as much money as possible for MyBnk. It is an amazing charity that is dedicated to empowering young people to take charge of their future by delivering expert-led financial education and enterprise skills!

Nigel Mahoney (ESO) - I am a keen cyclist who has been
riding for a number of years including two previous London Prudentials and
several Welsh Velathons.  In the past I have done these as an individual so
this year I am looking forward to doing it as part of a team and at the same
time helping to raise money for a worthy cause.

David Goodenough (ESO) - I'm a regular commuter cyclist, having previously been a keen triathlete. The Pru 100 will be my longest ride in a long time, but at least I won't have a rucksack on my back with a work shirt in it. I'm looking forward to riding as part of the MUFG team, raising funds for the worthwhile and interesting MyBnk.

Together with young people, we create and deliver innovative, high-impact and high-energy financial education programmes. Our experts help to build young people’s money knowledge, skills, mindsets and habits at key transitional moments. Two thirds of our work is with young adults in vulnerable circumstances focusing on ‘survival’ money skills for independent living. Many of our programmes are fully funded and can be delivered either directly in-person, virtually via secure video link or as online courses.
