South Coast Challenge 2019 · 31 August 2019 to 1 September 2019 ·

The RHN cares for people who have brain damage or a disease affecting their brain. People come to the RHN for many reasons, from a stroke to a traffic accident, or a disease. The RHN provides services and therapies to ensure people with neuro-disability can have the best quality of life possible.

Story

Hello friends and family!

We are a group of nurses who will be walking/running 50-100km in the South Coast Challenge in aid of the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. We are nurses from differents wards at RHN and we definetly see the difference your sponsorship money will make to brain injury patients of the hospital. All money raised will have a direct impact on patients and their families who depend on the hospital and its hard working staff for their care.

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is a medical charity that provides the best possible care for people and their families living with neuro-disabilities, caused by damage or disease to the brain and other parts of the nervous system.

The patients who come to us for rehabilitation will have had a major life changing event happen in their lives. This could be a road traffic accident, or a stroke, a slip and a fall on an icy road, or developing a neurological condition such as Huntingdon's Disease. The damage that occurs to the brain normally  leads to them needing to re-learn all the skills that every one else takes for granted. They may need to learn to talk again, learn to walk again, learn to be able to hold a knife and a fork/spoon to be able to eat by themselves again,

Sadly, not all of our patients are able to achieve a full recovery and most will continue to require support for the rest of their lives. At the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability we have fantastic teams of people who work every day to provide the best care, treatment and rehabilitation for all our patients.

We are a charity and we need to raise over £3million each year to support the care and treatment of our patients and residents. The money you raise will help us provide the important services and facilities including music therapy, aquatic therapy, recreation and leisure activities and essential daily equipment. With your support we can continue to providing resources and rehabilitation for people living with a neuro-disability.
