Story

On 26 August, 2014 9 year old Maddie was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and our worlds turned upside down in an instant. Since then she has been braver than us, more cheerful than us, and has astounded us with her determination to get to grips with this.

But she shouldn't have to. Type 1 is an autoimmune condition that will last her whole life. She takes multiple insulin injections and blood tests every day, just to stay alive, and you can't get it right all of the time, no matter how hard you try.

JDRF do amazing research to find new treatments that will make young people's lives simpler and safer, and to eventually - we hope - find a cure for this horrible, stressful condition.

Maddie's friends have donated £1 to wear their onesies and pyjamas to school, but she would be thrilled to have more donations to help everyone who faces this distressing diagnosis. Thank you so much for your support.
