London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Hello lovelies! Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page, it’d be fabulous if you could read my story and donate anything you possibly can; it would mean the world to me and I PROMISE make a huge change.
My parents lost their first child, Olivia Rebecca McCourt to meningitis when she was just 7 months old. As the next one along I’ve always aimed to carry my big sister’s life with me as I live mine and make her proud. Having hit 18 and with a gap year to kill I thought (half jokingly and fatally out loud) ‘Huh...the marathon’ and before I knew it my mum had told enough people that it was actually a thing and wahey here I am 😬🙃
Bacterial and viral infections causes the inflammation of the ‘mengines’ which causes meningitis. In its worst cases it can result in limb loss, hearing and/or sight loss, sepsis and, tragically, death. The disease is the more responsible for under 5 infant mortality than any other put together, including AIDS sand Cholera. University students are also at an increased risk due to close proximity with new people in new environments. Families can be devastated by this disease and this amazing charity supports those who have lost loved ones and those with loved ones fighting and funds international research with an aim to make the world completely meningitis free.
Even if it’s just £1 I would be so so touched if you could sponsor my marathon run! I know gap year and student times are tight but just see it as half a pint less at Spoons you’ll have next round ❤️
Thank you for reading my love to you all! X
