Story
I recently watched a video of Carrie Hope Fletcher cutting off all her hair for charity and I thought: why can't I? I have been thinking about cutting my hair for quite a while now, especially because it's gotten really long -I've been growing it since I was 10, so it has taken long enough!
It took a while to convince myself that I was actually going to do it; a trim is one thing but cutting more than half of my hair off is a bit of a bigger deal! I eventually decided that if I was going to cut of my hair, I was going to do it for a good reason.
I googled charities that take hair donations and discovered the Little Princess Foundation; they use donations from all around the world to make wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatments. Once I saw the videos and read about the difference that a head of hair can make to a child's confidence and happiness, I realised that my head of hair is not as important to me as it may be to a child with cancer. So, here I am cutting off my hair in the hope that it, no matter how trivial a head of hair may seem, can make a difference to a child's happiness.
Someone mentioned that I could get sponsored to cut my hair. I looked at giving the money to The Little princess Foundation but eventually decided to give all the money, that I will hopefully raise, to Cancer Research UK. They are focused on finding a cure for cancer and are developing new treatments and medical trials; I hope that the money raised can help contribute to preventing the pain that cancer causes.
I will be cutting my hair on the 7th of January 2017 and will upload a video onto my Instagram and Facebook accounts. A HUGE thank you so much to everyone who has donated and a very happy new year!
