Story

recently became an Ambassador for charity FREE TO RUN and I would be delighted if you could consider supporting them.

This weekend, Saturday (9th April 2022) at noon I will start a crazy challenge of running as many laps of athletic track (400 meters) as possible in 24 hours… Yes, you read it right! It’s an actual event and it will be my first attempt at it. No sleep and as little break as possible to cover as much distance as I possibly can until noon the following day. The event takes place at K2 Crawley so pop in if you get bored! I very rarely appeal for charity support but FREE TO RUN is very dear to my heart. Running is my passion and a crucial escape from absolutely everything in this mad world we live in. As I live in free country, all I need to do is lace up and go out. But have you ever considered what it's like being a woman in a country where going on the street freely is simply NOT a possibility? Stephanie Case, a truly awesome runner who worked as part of UN missions in war zones and refugee camps saw first hand that countries such as Afghanistan had absolutely no opportunities for girls and women. In response she created nothing but a miracle of safe space, developing some of the girls to even run a marathon! Sadly due to recent changes in situation in Afghanistan it's more difficult to fight for their rights and keep them safe. But FREE TO RUN is not giving up. I think being privileged to run whenever and wherever I want to, begs for support for women who can't do it ONLY because they were born somewhere else hence I am asking for your support. This is quote from Zahra from Afghanistan: "I am lucky woman who has the opportunity to run. I can't scream. I can't cry. I can't take my family out of Afganistan. I can't give women the right to choose. I can't assure my mother that she will be safe. When I'm running, I'm able to forget about all those concerns. Running gives me the ability to be strong for myself and for women who are living under the Taliban regime"(Website www.freetorun.org)

Having you behind me will make me more accountable this weekend and will no doubt push me more.

Thank you.
