Maja's Bikini Challenge 2019 · 30 November 2019

Blood Bikes Wales transports blood, plasma, platelets, samples, vaccines, donor breast-milk & any other urgently required medical items to hospitals at night, weekends and bank holidays. This service is provided free of charge, allowing the NHS to divert funds where they are needed most.

Story

For the fourth year, I am going to be bracing the cold Welsh winter in nothing more than a bikini to raise money for my chosen charity.

For those who know me this is no surprise! We are lucky to have the NHS and we have benefited from it greatly throughout my son Sam's early years. They've looked after him and performed several surgeries and it hasn't cost us a penny. It's time to give something back.

Blood Bikes support the NHS by transporting blood, plasma, milk and documents between labs, hospitals and GP surgeries for free. This means the hospitals don't need to resort to using taxi service, police or despatch an ambulance which is not the best use of the resource. The Wrexham (and the north-west) based Blood Bikes also support Wales Air Ambulance services which we are really proud of, too.

This year we are going to brave the winter elements on a very exposed side of Moel Famau mountain on 30th November - starting from the top car park at noon. We will be there whatever the weather and without risking anyone's wellbeing and life and will attempt to reach the summit in our bikini.

Please support the NHS and Air Ambulance by helping the Blood Bikes continuing their free service and donate generously. And feel free to join us on the day for a brisk walk to the top :)
