Story
Dad… Forever our treasure. Forever loved and missed by all his family and friends.
A man so loving and caring, funny and stubborn, and the most hardworking and proud person you’ll ever meet.
We lost our dad just over a year ago, and while this has been the toughest year, adapting to not having him around in person, we know he’s still with us everyday. Which means we’re still doing everything we can to make him proud.
On the 28th June, it will be dads 66th birthday.
So, to celebrate him, as a family we’ve decided to give back to a charity very close to dads heart…
Our dad well and truly hated hospitals. Whether it was the food, or having to share a room with 4/5 different people or even having to walk more than 5 steps to have a fag, he hated them.
So when St. Michaels hospice was mentioned, it was fair to say dad was a bit sceptical, HOWEVER he quite quickly became very fond of the place. The fact that he could pretty much eat whatever he wanted, had his own room and could quite literally walk 5 steps to have a fag probably played a great part but he also spoke very highly of all the people involved, whether that be the nurses/doctors, volunteers, gardeners, whoever. He was always appreciative of all that they do for people like him. And he passed this onto us. I think when your a family member visiting someone in hospital or a hospice it’s very easy to look at the faults, because you want that person to be treated as though they are the king or queen, just like how we look at them. But without St. Michaels my dads last year would have been very different, not only for him but for us too, because we got to enjoy him. We got to enjoy our dad, and for that we are eternally grateful for St. Michaels Hospice.
So in memory of our dad on his 66th birthday, we will be raising money for St. Michaels hospice.
And what better way to do it than by jumping out of a plane.
I must just clarify that this decision hasn’t come lightly, and we are all quite frankly sh***ing bricks.
And for everyone who knows dad, would know exactly what he would be calling us all right at this moment.
I can’t express enough how amazing this charity is and without donations they wouldn’t of been able to take care of our dad and many others like him.
