Practice for big ride is going well. Managed 70 miles this weekend in 2 days back to back and legs feeling good. Will need to work hard over coming 4 weeks to achieve 170 miles needed in 2 days starting on 22nd Sept. Please keep the donations coming as every penny helps.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 22nd & 23rd September I intend to achieve my biggest challenge to date, cycling 170 miles coast to coast from Morecambe to Bridlington.

2 years ago I lost my Mum who died from a heart attack and my Dad has heart problems. These made me realise I should do more cardiovascular excercise. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) state 'it is never too late to excercise' and having not ridden a bike for over 20 years, I decided to take up cycling. At first I found rides of up to 20 miles difficult and struggled up every incline.  Now I try and cycle 2/3 times per week cycling up to 70 miles per week and feel fitter for it. I now want to put my new found fitness to test and raise as much money for BHF as I can.

Sat 22nd Sept (Day 1) will be a real challenge to me as it is a total of 109 miles with 1000s of feet of inclines from Morecambe over the Pennines to York.   Day 2 will be 61 miles, of no doubt painful sore bottom, riding on from York to the east coast at Bridlington pier.

I hope to raise money for BHF to help them in their work in raising awareness of the importance of exercise in the prevention of heart disease.
