In the run up to International Women's Day, we are calling for teams of five brave individuals to take up the challenge of cycling at least 500 miles in one week, raising much-needed funds to help Smart Works clients transform their lives.

Story

We are a team of SWGM trustees and volunteers who are taking up the challenge of cycling at least 500 miles between us in 8 days starting on Friday 28th February 2020 as part of the Spin for Smart Works event.

We are raising much-needed funds so Smart Works Greater Manchester can continue to deliver our life-changing service, helping women in need with high quality interview clothes and interview training, as well as the confidence and self-belief they need to secure a job and start a new chapter in their life.

Since opening in 2015 we have supported more than 1750 women across Greater Manchester, nearly half of whom were lone parents, a third from ethnic minorities and 19% had a disability.

Our simple intervention helps these women succeed. In 2019, 89% of the women we supported secured the job following their engagement with SWGM, despite the fact that over half had been unemployed for more than a year and 23% had already applied for over 20 jobs.

With your support we can help even more women across Greater Manchester.  To find out more about our work visit https://smartworks.org.uk/manchester-smart-works

Your donation will make an incredible difference - thank you so much for your support.

About the charity

Smart Works exists to help unemployed women with the clothes, coaching and confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives. Thanks to the deceptively simple power of our service, 69% of the women we see get the job within one month.
