Story
Dear and Wonderful Sponsor,
We have done it! Together we were strong chatting all the way…
We started off at a fair lick, the first half was easy and fun, then a stop with banana, flapjack bar and drink for 5 minutes - then off again onto the second half with cars hooting encouragement and kind marshals showing us the way through an Oxford that we never knew existed. And no more said about the last quarter where even Blueberries did not give us the lift we were hoping for…
After the sixth marshal saying encouragingly: “well done, you are nearly there” the last one came out with: “they were all lying except me: cross the road (he even pressed the button for the green man so that we did not have to slow down!), turn right and you ARE there!” and so we were, after 2hrs and 55 mins, which is not bad going for 130 yrs of age!
The thought of Sobell House and their kindness towards Veronica certainly gave us the strength to keep going and of course all your lovely financial support which will come in very useful for them.
We aimed to raise £1000 and with your overwhelmingly generous support we are very close to £2000 with four pledges outstanding.
