The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Hello everyone! I know this is an AFTER the event page and also it's been more than a week since I cycled, but there are few reasons this page wasn't set up in advance.

1. I wasn't sure 100% I would do this. Weather conditions, waking up early, making sure the bike is properly ready... Loads of people enter but don't show up, so I didn't want to raise money and then chicken out.

2. I was away the week after the cycle.

BUT. On 1 October, a beautiful Sunday, I woke up at 6 AM and started getting ready, asked if my friend will join me, since he signed up with me, but he said couldn't make it, as he didn't sleep the whole night and didn't feel well.

Asked my other colleague if he's coming, he also said he didn't know, because had a bad night of sleep.

Then I thought: F*** it, I will do it no matter what. Got my kit set up and started cycling from Holloway Road towards Buckingham Palace. After a couple of minutes I realised I forgot my helmet!... Had to turn back, on the way back I drove over something and that something cracked loud! Thought it might be a glass and that's the end of my journey.... Luckily, nothing happened to my tire and I got my helmet and successfully got to Buckingham Palace. It was ~7.30AM when I started my journey.

Weather was nice, not too cold and not too hot. I was passing people and felt I'm doing alright. Although at one point ~15 cyclists passed me and I thought something's wrong... Checked my tires and everything seemed to be fine, so I carried on.

First 10 mile stop was at Richmond. It's beautiful there, you just want to stay there longer and adore the nature.

20 mile stop was a quick one

The rest - was a struggle, altitude was a pain, but I managed to finish the ride in 3hr 31min and 29sec. Which is good! If I would deduct my stops, time would probably be 3hrs 15min.

Got to the finish line and went to get my feet massaged because I couldn't walk like a human being.

I don't cycle that much, so this was a challenge and I'm super happy I did it. One more tick to my bucket list!
