Story

We are a group of Ambulance Service medics; Emergency Care Practitioners, Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics, who all work for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust in the South East Essex area, based in and around Southend-on-Sea.

Inspired by the London Marathon 2018 I thought it would be a good idea to enter an EEAST team as it is important that we as professionals keep fit, healthy and active.  I started up a runners group and realised there were around 13 of us.  We now have around 50 supporters too who also train with us and are helping fundraise as well as coming to London to support us on the day next year.

You can meet our other runners and read their stories on the ‘Our Runners’ page on our website. ,,,,,,,,,,

We thought about charities that were close to our hearts personally and one that we could make a huge difference to by supporting as professionals.

SADS UK was the one charity which stood out to us and the one which we felt most connected to professionally.                                                  Over the collective working years of all our medics we have dealt with far too many cases of young preventable cardiac deaths.                      But Over the last few years we are aware of the difference we are having and the amount of lives being saved has increased dramatically.

Along with the improvements in our equipment, advanced specialist training and our hard working staff, is the education of the general public in how and what to do in the event of an emergency.               SADS UK have been working hard since 2000 to educate, prevent sudden cardiac death and provide life saving equipment such as public defibrillators which helps sustain life until we arrive and provide the specialist care.  Their work has been invaluable and we believe they are partly the reason so many lives have been saved.

With your help we can not only provide money to fund more public defibrillators but also raise awareness that young people, even young children, can be affected by cardiac conditions and/or cardiac death.

Please help us to help you.
