Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

I have undertaken the task of running the Virgin London Marathon for the St Clare Hospice on Sunday 25th April 2010.

I ran in the Silverstone Half-Marathon on Sunday 14th March! It was a great feeling to be running around the race track that usually has cars racing round at over 150mph (See flattering pictures on the left) It was a new experience for me to be running with so many people and a little taster of what the marathon is going to be like. I had my name printed on my running vest and so many people were cheering me on! All the hard work is paying off and I beat my last time by just over 4 mins, finishing in 2:19:46.

I have not only done 2 half-marathons now but have stepped up the training further and took part in the Essex 20 mile championship race last Sunday! That was hard work! The last 4 miles were torture but I kept going and finished in 3:37.

My next challenge is a 16 mile training run this weekend and the St Clare Hospice 10K race on 28th March.

£5 could provide essential clinical supplies for one patient for one day

£10 could buy a warm fleece blanket

£25 could pay for a session of physiotherapy

£30 could pay for our advice line for 24 hours

£50 could buy a pressure cushion pad

£100 could pay for 6 hours of nursing care

St Clare Hospice are specialists in caring for people who have illnesses such as cancer, neurological disease or organ failure. They help treat the symptoms, for example, sickness or tiredness. They also have people to talk to and ask advice from, people who can help them stay in their home and keep their independence.
The services they provide are free to patients and their carers but cost them over £2 million every year. The NHS only pays around 30% of this huge sum. That means they have to raise significant amounts of money each and every year. Which is were the fundraising and me running 26.2 miles comes in!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Clare West Essex Hospice Care Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please dig deep & sponsor me now!
