Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 25th April 2010, I will be running the London Marathon. I am running it for a client of mine called Sightsavers International. They do some amazing work around the world, helping and / or restoring the sight of thousands. Sight is without doubt the sense that most people fear losing the most, 95% of people at my work agree!
Sightsavers, specialise in treating river blindness, performing cataract operations and treating Trachoma and Glaucoma. Most of this will never effect any of us, but in the developing world, unclean drinking water and poor sanitation means these conditions are widespread amongst people of all ages.
There are many facts I could give you, but this one works for me:- a cataract operation costs £17...that is the cost of being able to see or a lifetime of blindness. Rather shocking someone could go blind for that amount of money!
So please sponsor me as I tackle a marathon for the first time and help me raise lots of cash for a very worthy cause.
Thanks,
Marc
