I have been invited by a charity organisation, Transaid, to take part of this Epic South Africa Challenge - mountain biking over 450Km from De Doorns, Western Cape, to Cape Agulhas, the Southernmost point of the African continent.

When heard what this charity stand for, I just couldn't say no and I’ve become more motivated to help raise awareness and fundraising to help.

What is it all about?

Transport is essential for life but the reality for many people across Africa and the developing world is that access to transport is poor, inadequate or
unreliable. It is particularly concerning in relation to healthcare and road
safety...

• Road crashes kill an estimated 1.3million people each year.
• In sub-Saharan Africa, road deaths are the third biggest killer behind HIV/AIDS and malaria.
  
• An estimated 75% of maternal deaths can be avoided through timely access to essential child-birth related care.
  
• Up to 40% of harvest can be lost due to inefficient transport and impassable roads in rural areas.

Apart of helping this cause, it is also a great pleasure to join other Transaid member to do this personal challenge where we will be cycling over 450Km through mountain passes, vineyards and hot springs within 5 days.

• Transaid have trained nearly 6,895 commercial drivers through professional driver training programme.
• This year, Transaid trained 25 driver trainers.
• Transaid have introduced innovative and community-led emergency transport intervention including bicycle ambulances, motorcycle ambulances and boats.
• 8,881 women over 3 years have been transferred through an Emergency Transport Scheme in Nigeria.
• Transaid has worked with partners in Ghana, Uganda and Ethiopia to develop community focused and effective solutions
  to improve livelihoods.
