My Uncle & Auntie both lived a life of simplicity, in a small village called Tickhill, in Yorkshire. They were amazing members of the comminuty, never drank or smoked and were just kind loving people. My uncle Vernon was a gentle man, quiet but with a dry sense of humour with a passion for music. He was a professional pianist & piano teacher and also played the organ at his local church. 

My auntie Joan the more flamoyant one of the partnership, the one who always smiled and joked, passed away 14 years ago, back in 2001, after getting this crippling disease. In my mum's words she was "unrecognisable" so so sad and why? there was no reason for her to get this disease? After she passed, my uncle Vernon was left devestated. They had been together since they were small, infact they met at Junior school. He felt like his right arm was missing. They had just both retired after working hard all their life and then that happens?

In 2004 my uncle vernon suddenly also got this horrible disease called cancer. It took his life very quickly indeed and again for why? It left my mother the last person in her family alive and she felt it. I can't imagine that, can you? I felt angry, and i wonder why we have no cure for this. The hardest part is not kowing why it affects some and not others. This could happen to anyone of us and it probably has affected each and everyone of us and i feel sad for anyone who has had to go though it.
