We care for rescue animals to help find them a forever home

Story

2014 has been one of our toughest years to date. This summer alone, we have taken in over 120 kittens and their mothers and taken in almost 450 stray or abandoned dogs and cats. While we cannot share every story with you, we would like to introduce you to three of the animals we have helped so far this year.

Purdy was unwanted and heavily pregnant when she arrived at Church Knowle. Very soon she gave birth to four beautiful kittens but due to complications during the birth, she sadly lost two of them. A short while after, three six day old orphaned kittens were brought in. Purdy was a fantastic and devoted mother to her remaining two kittens, so much so that we gave her a new challenge. She was immediately responsive to the sound of the orphan’s cries.  We held the smallest to her, allowed her to investigate, and the bond was instant! All five kittens as well as Purdy thrived together and we were all delighted when every one of them found a loving home this summer.

Stray Cocker X Springer Spaniel Mac arrived at our Lincoln Farm centre in appalling condition. His coat was smelly and matted and he was suffering from a large ulcerated mass in his ear which required immediate veterinary attention. Despite the immense pain caused by his ear, Mac was still very friendly and affectionate and desperate for cuddles. Medical treatment for his ear, surgery to remove 3 teeth and a lot of love and TLC were prescribed and we soon saw a difference in little Mac.

Staff at Wingletang were shocked when Toby turned up at the centre. This poor black cat had lost almost all the fur from his body and legs as a result of severe stress. It took many weeks of rehabilitation to help Toby overcome his fears and after a lot of time and patience, Toby began to relax. His fur began to grow back and he would bring his toys to the staff when he wanted to play. The transformation in Toby has been amazing and he has now found his perfect forever home where he can forget the trauma of his previous life.

I am very happy to say that Purdy, Mac and Toby’s stories all have happy endings. But the reality is that they are not the only unwanted or neglected animals that need us. Every day we are faced with a new challenge. With your help, we can face these challenges and transform the lives of more animals. Just £3 would treat a cat for worms and fleas, £20 would pay to feed the mothers and kittens in our kitten block for a day and £40 would help us fully vaccinate a dog against dangerous and life-threatening diseases.

If you can, please give a gift of £3, £20, £40 or whatever you are able to give. Your money truly makes a huge difference to the animals.

On behalf of Purdy, Mac, Toby and all of our animals, thank you so much.
